Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are versatile injectable gels composed of hyaluronic acid or other biocompatible materials that can contour, hydrate, add volume, and smooth wrinkles. Dermal fillers can be used to enhance, restore, and rejuvenate your appearance. At Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center, our providers use precision and artistry to help you achieve natural looking results that align with your aesthetic goals.
The Procedure
Consultation: Your provider will perform a full facial assessment and build a custom treatment plan that addresses your desires and concerns.
Photos: Please come with a clean face with minimal makeup. These photos will inform your provider’s decisions and allow you both to assess progress as you move through your treatment plan/aesthetic journey.
Ice and Topical Numbing cream: Ice helps to minimize bruising and topical numbing cream is applied to provide comfort.
Treatment: Dermal filler injections are a quick procedure with minimal discomfort. At our office, these appointments typically last about an hour.
Follow Up: All patients are scheduled for a follow up appointment to assess healing, integration, and results. You and your provider will look at your before and after photos to assess your outcomes. Your provider may suggest refinements at this appointment to further enhance your results.
Recovery & Results
Dermal filler injections require very little downtime. Most patients experience a small amount of redness, bruising, and swelling post treatment. The degree of swelling and bruising can vary from patient to patient. Our nurse injectors will review blood thinners that should be avoided prior to your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising. We ask patients not to apply makeup to the treatment area for the rest of the day , avoid exercise for 24 hours, and avoid vaccines and dental procedures for a month post injection.
FAQ
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are non-permanent injectable treatments that can restore facial volume, enhance features, and smooth wrinkles. At Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center, we use fillers made of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin.
How long do the results last?
Length of results varies depending on the type of filler used, treatment area, amount injected, and individual metabolism; however, in most individuals results will last 6-24 months. At Raleigh Plastic, our goal is to achieve a full correction and then maintain using small amounts over time so we do not have noticeable shifts in our appearance between appointments.
