Drivers craned their necks, traffic slowed, all eyes were turned to Diamonds Direct showroom at Crabtree Valley Mall on October 15th. Was it a spectacular sale? Diamond give away? No – it was the over 300 bras strung up around the building- on trees, bushes, walls and doorways to bring awareness to Breast Reconstruction.

With the wonderful support of Diamonds Direct , Raleigh Plastic Surgery Center celebrated Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day in style. With the background of their sparkling showroom,  breast  cancer survivors and  breast reconstruction success stories mingled with Dr. High, myself, and our staff while sipping champagne and eating hors d’oeuvres. Diamond Direct owner, Barak Henis, was the gracious host and donated a diamond earring set to one of our patients who was the happy drawing winner.

We were proud to support the event as we believe that all appropriate patients should know their reconstructive options when diagnosed with breast cancer. Restoring the patient’s breast after mastectomy is among the most satisfying procedures we perform. It plays such an important role in recovery from breast cancer. Those bras were donated by our staff and patients. They will be donated to women at homeless shelters who can’t afford them and others who can’t afford new bras after mastectomy and reconstruction surgeries. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month – do your part and wear some pink and support charities that work
